Early Designs

Dr. William R. Bertelsen (May 20, 1920 – July 16, 2009) was an American inventor who pioneered in the field of air-cushion vehicles (hovercrafts), and inventor of the Aeromobile, which is credited as the first hovercraft to carry a human over land and water. As a medical doctor, he made his Aeromobile in his spare time of aluminium and wood and is designed to ride a few inches above the ground on a cushion of air, to be able to make house calls in any weather and landscape condition.
